MISSION STATEMENT

Komedyplast, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) international organization, provides a unique approach to the international care of children with congenital anomalies by combining surgical treatment with comedy.

Komedyplast was established to help children suffering from the emotional scars and developmental delays resulting from congenital abnormalities. In many parts of the world, while there are well-trained physicians, access to trained specialists, including craniofacial surgeons, is limited. By combining medical services provided by volunteer physicians and nurses with a volunteer entertainment team, the primary mission of Komedyplast is to make a lasting difference in the lives of children throughout the world, while also bringing laughter and hope to the children and their families.

In 2005, Komedyplast initiated international missions to developing countries, beginning with Lima, Peru, to provide surgical care for children with congenital anomalies who would not otherwise receive timely treatment, while providing specialist training for local physicians and surgeons. The Komedyplast team recently returned from Mission Peru 2009 - its 5th successful mission to Lima.

Komedyplast also provides opportunities for children in local communities to build character and self-esteem through various participant events such as Komedy Clown Kamp, and launched the Komedyplast Craniofacial Research Grant Program last year, a national program that provides two grants each year to support craniofacial research.
